French shipping company La Meridionale, part of the CMA CGM group, may soon restore ferries between Italy, Corsica and France, reactivating all routes.
According to reports, La Meridionale may return to sailing on the Toulon-Livorno route, with an intermediate stop in Bastia, one of Corsica’s main cities and a strategic port on the island. The company had already experimented with this route during last summer, operating between June 1 and September 30 with the ferry “Kalliste” on the Livorno-Île Rousse route.
For this new phase, the service could see the use of the ferry“Normandie,” recently integrated into the fleet of La Meridionale ferries.. Built in 1992, the “Normandie” is a large vessel, capable of carrying more than 2,000 passengers and more than 1,700 linear meters of vehicles in its garage. These features make the ship particularly well suited to meet the needs of tourists and haulers, ensuring efficient and comfortable service.
